The Church’s roots here began with early 20th‑century missionary work; the Diocese was officially established on 25 March 1972, marking a new chapter of local growth and service. From those humble beginnings, it has grown into a community deeply rooted in faith, culture and outreach
Evangelisation in the Diocese has been a journey of faith, relationship and service. From the earliest missionaries who walked into remote villages and outstations, the Gospel took shape not just in sermons but in presence: listening to local people, sharing life with them, and building trust. Over time, the work matured—local catechists and lay leaders stepped forward, parishes multiplied, and the Church’s mission grew into education, health care and community development. The Diocese now counts numerous schools, health‑centres and vocational programmes, reflecting the conviction that evangelisation touches both soul and society.
Today the mission continues with renewed energy. Young people are being engaged, lay‑leadership strengthened, and evangelisation is seen as a shared adventure of faith and service. The Church walks alongside families in their joys and challenges, striving to bring hope and unity across the diversity of this wide land.
